Wake up & Roar Part 5 Body Beauty Natural sulphur colours the rocks at Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley, New Zealand The Miracle of MSM I have to take this opportunity to report back to you about MSM (methyl-sulfonyl-methane). I began taking adding it into my daily diet at the beginning of September last year. The reason I began taking it was because I came home to live with my parents for a while, and I noticed how crooked my father’s posture was and how much pain he was enduring. He had recently fallen off a ladder, and further damaged an already weak and troublesome spinal injury. I had never taken MSM before on a regular basis, so I was super-excited to discover how the results would show up. I knew it was fantastic for bones, skin, joints and hair. But it was a friend of mine, who saw my father and the amount of pain he was in and told me straight, “Get him to take MSM, straight away what ever the dose is on the bottle, double it and he will be out of pain within a week.” So we began our daily ritual together, I would make up our concoctions, we were taking quite a potent amount, as I wanted him out of pain as soon as possible. We would gag and pull the most ridiculous faces, but we did it together… As my friend promised, my father was indeed out of pain within 7 days. What I noticed within myself was the disappearance of asthma. Usually when I return home, it’s only a few days before my asthma kicks in, as my mum loves cats. I do too, but I am allergic to their fur. Its always much worse in the winter as the central heating is on, and there is no fresh air. But this time being at home, I witnessed no asthma whatsoever. I also noticed that my already wild mane of hair got wilder, longer, fuller and much more lustrous. My final finding was the softness yet tautness of my skin. My skin just got… yummy, is the only way to describe it. I have been blessed to be pain-free within my body, so the usual miraculous healings from bodily pain I cannot report on. But my father can. That is my experience with MSM and I am very excited about it, and I dedicate this article to the Miracle from the Clouds. So let’s begin to discover what MSM actually is and what it is capable of. MSM and MSM Lotion are available at most health-food stores. It is also available in tablet form.
MSM is an organic form of sulphur that appears in all living organisms. It is formed as a miraculous by-product of algae growing in the oceans, and then it is evaporated up into the clouds. From here it gets exposed to all the elements, wind, thunder, lightning, sunshine, moonlight and the planetary rays. As the clouds dissolve, the MSM falls to earth through rainfall and becomes food and nutrition for all life forms on earth. Because MSM is extremely volatile, and is either evaporated or destroyed by cooking, the majority of people are extremely deficient in it. We will all benefit greatly by additional MSM in our diets, even those of us already on a raw-food diet. MSM has now been extracted out of the rainfall and is now available to us as a crystallised powdered form. Otherwise, other ways of getting it into our system is by eating foods that have been watered by rain. MSM greatly enhances the structural integrity of connective tissues and joint cartilage. It works in partnership with Vitamin C to build new tissue. It has been shown to reverse arthritic conditions by improving joint flexibility, reducing stiffness, inflammation, arthritic pain and by breaking up scar tissue. MSM dissolves scars on the skin. When applied as a lotion is greatly beneficial in the treating of acne, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis and wounds. Additionally the lotion, because of its ability to neutralise foreign proteins, almost immediately neutralises mosquito and insect bites. Even as I write this article I laugh out loud! I am currently in Egypt teaching on a yoga holiday, and I can again vouch for the truth. Last night I got up in the middle of the night after hearing mosquitoes in my room. I looked in the mirror to see around 7 angry red welts, where I had been bitten. After swearing at the bunch of mosquitoes, I climbed back into bed, made a complete tent over myself and sweated myself back to sleep. When I awoke the next morning, again I went to the mirror to check out the damage, and they had all calmed down, and all I was left with was the tiniest of holes, where the bite had happened. This is most unusual for me, as I react strongly to mosquito bites, and it takes usually a week for the bites to calm down. I am absolutely putting this experience down to the fact that I have been taking MSM daily for 6 weeks. I have been taking one teaspoon per day, and now I am moving up to the next level and beginning to take 1-2 tablespoons per day. How much MSM should you take? There are no known toxic side effects from taking MSM, and no known dosage. Experience has shown that it works best when taken in small amounts, initially 1/4 1/2 tablespoon twice a day, and then building it up to 1-3 tablespoons twice per day. As with anything, shift slowly, and gradually, as your body opens to it, increase. MSM is best taken in water. Add it into your water bottle, or glass of morning and afternoon water. Other research I have discovered is that MSM increases the absorption of minerals, vitamins and amino acids into your system. It actually opens your body to receive more nutritional value of your additional supplements. MSM works on multiple levels to rejuvenate the liver, and thereby increase nutrient absorption while delivering sulphur to the skin. The skin is the last organ to be nourished as it is so far away from the digestive organs. It is vitally important to nourish the skin form the inside and the outside. One of the first things you will notice once you begin taking MSM, Is that your hair will grow exceptionally fast and lustrous. As MSM forms the sulphur bonds between proteins and it also increases the assimilation of proteins into the body. It’s worth noting that the youthening powers of MSM are exceptional. MSM also helps drive more nutrients into the teeth, which will strengthen and build a major defence against tooth decay, as sulphur helps build strong enamel.
